" Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak"- Rachel Zoe
That's exactly what I always have in mind when I have to dress each morning. I think fun and that is exactly what I had yesterday with what I wore. I wore cream on cream outfit. Cream oversize Mango top and cream tight jean. To compliment my outfit I wore a cream and brown snake print Zoom heel.

MIDI skirt
This gorgeous skirt flaunts an early-’60s attitude, and the polished daytime look. They are beautiful in any color- especially in brighter colours. Every lady should make a room in their closet for one. They are great to wear in those days you want to have a classy-sexy-prima donna kinda look. The look that speaks volume with out saying much. There’s a prim, clean-scrubbed vibe to these skirts. Never to be worn with a flat shoe no matter how tempting it is. You want to walk tall in your high heels when wearing one. Can be worn with a tighter fitting top. Some prefer to wear the skirt with a Tiptoe shoe or a sandal but I prefer a pencil heel shoe. See below for celebrities in Midi skirt.

My thoughts on being a fashionista or stylista
Is there really a difference. Does n't a fashionista need a great sense of style and therefore making a fashionista a stylist. Many people has their own definition of fashion and style. To me fashion and style goes together, if you do not have a style then you are not a fashionista. How can one be a fashionista lacking a great sense of style? There is somewhat interdependence between the two and atleast we should acknowledge that.
"Fashion changes but style endures" ~ Coco Chanel
I used to think I'm not fan of fashion, I considered my self as a stylist. For years I refused to buy clothes based on trends unless I thought it had a great opportunity of staying on trend for atleast more than just one season. As I grew older I got to understand few things, as long as I bought fashion items at a cheaper price I was good to go. I got to understand that versatility is important and you need to be in with the trends. My sentiment is spend less on fashion and more on items that are timeless. As Coco Chanel puts it "Fashion changes but style endures". There is truth in that statement. To make things work for you make sure you have classic items & make sure you take quality into consideration. You want to move in with time, which acceptable and recommended but at least invest in one or two timeless items. Those timeless items will showcase your style. Above of all I have said always make sure you are comfortable in clothes you wear after all clothes are inherently personal.

Rihanna looked stunning in her white crop top and denim shorts. The outfit is so simply but yet stunning. She pulled it nicely. Steal her look, shorts look alike at Mr Price and a white crop top at Cotton on.

I have all sorts of fashion craziness in my wardrobe and some I have to change season after season but my black dresses have been there for years and I never get tired of them. You can get a good quality black dress for as cheap as R200. I have ensemble a black dress outfit and can cost less than a thousand and five bucks. See below.

White high heel : A must have
A white stiletto is currently a need in my wardrobe and it should be for every other lady. I'm a bit delayed I know but it's never too late. White heel transforms any outfit into a classy and stylish outfif. It adds a totally polished dimension. The heel can be worn with jeans/pants & blazers, dresses or skirts to give a monochrome look. Monochrome look started trending from Spring / Summer 2013 & still is. The look is embraced by big designer household names such as Marc Jacobs and local household fashionista names such as *Hombakazi Mbu of HVC . I have come to love the classic monochrome look & to compliment it, there is a need for a white high heel. Get yourself a white heel at Aldo, Gold chain lookalike at cotton on less than R150,00 & Black & white blazer at forever 21.

My two fashionista icons
Solange -left and Julia-right (source:internet) |
I have what I call a street-meets-luxury-style with a bit of quirkiness. I'm comfortable in my style and I love the fact that I'm not afraid to push boundaries. When I first noticed Solange Knowles I quickly identified a bit of my style in her. She's got a fabulous artistic style that leaves my jaw hanging each time I see her wearing something. She is a true fashionista and a trendsetter. She is a fan of an African print and never shies away from any great print. First time I got to understand that mismatch works was through her & it quickly grew on me. Later, I got to learn about Julia Sarr Jamois. Boy! Was I not blown away by her style!? She has a magnificent style not very far from Solange's. Whatever she puts on her body works. The first time I understood that I could make my boyfriend's clothing items look so cool on me was through Julia. Both these two ladies have their style tell a story and that story screams 'free spirited'. Exactly what I think every fashionista should do, let their style tell a story. To me, both these two ladies are true fashionista and trendsetters and they should be crown Queen of street fashion and glam. This is not a comparison rather a recognition of true fashionistas and of course my opinion.
